Water color: Using White for Transparency and Opaqueness

Water color: Using White for Transparency and Opaqueness

One can use opaque white or gouache in your water color. Many artists
take the liberty and use it in their painting and bring wonderful effects.

Either you can use opaque white for clouds or spatter it on dark surface for
night sky and stars in it. When you spatter, you can take the color in your
tooth brush and use your finger to spatter onto the painting. You can also
mix some light pink or light yellow with your opaque white color.

On the other hand if you really water down your white substantially with water,
and apply it gently onto your painting you will get transparent effect.
Many artists use it this way.
