Instant Acrylic Painting

Instant Acrylic Painting

World is full of amazing things and we can be creative by learning
new and different techniques which are readily available.

This One Stroke painting techniques have been created by a great
woman called “Donna Dewberry”.

By using the special acrylic folk art paints and the folk art brushes,
one can create wonderful paintings in matter of hours and minutes if
you have mastered these techniques.

It is relatively easy to learn and enjoy your own art work for your
home or office.

Since the acrylic paint dry faster, there is an added advantage to this
way of painting.

Enjoy new paintings every week.

Water color: Using White for Transparency and Opaqueness

Water color: Using White for Transparency and Opaqueness

One can use opaque white or gouache in your water color. Many artists
take the liberty and use it in their painting and bring wonderful effects.

Either you can use opaque white for clouds or spatter it on dark surface for
night sky and stars in it. When you spatter, you can take the color in your
tooth brush and use your finger to spatter onto the painting. You can also
mix some light pink or light yellow with your opaque white color.

On the other hand if you really water down your white substantially with water,
and apply it gently onto your painting you will get transparent effect.
Many artists use it this way.

Water, the best liquid for painting

Water, the best liquid for painting

The plain water is the simplest and the most versatile liquid for all the media.
When I say that, I am also including oils.

For water color, the water is the mixable medium and it is quite self explanatory. When
using the water with acrylics, one can water down the paint substantially with water and
bring the same effects as you would in water color and in fact use that effectively.

Now, water soluble oil paints have been used and one of them is “w Oil”. These are available
in art supply stores or on line art supply stores. Even stores like Michael’ s and Joann’s
carry them and if you are really interested in painting in oils, this is non toxic and
easy to clean with water but  they are oils.

Water can also be used with inks and special effects. I love to work with watered down paints
for my special effects.

Use of rubbing alocohol for your water color

Use of rubbing alocohol for your water color

Water is a great mixer for any media, either a water color or acrylics or
water based oils, or mixed media art. Similarly, rubbing alcohol has versatile
usage with art work.

Although it has different chemical make up, it could be unpredictable just like
water. It does resist the water in the wash but it does soak up the paper and penetrates
deep. However, it can create and produce great effects for you. It can bring surprises for
you too.

For example if your wash is too dry, it will have no effect at all. If your wash is too wet,
the alcohol dropped in with a dropper will look wonderful for a second but will then simply
fill back in. Try using it with color and see the different effects it produces.

Use of liquid frisket to keep the area blocked for painting

Use of liquid frisket to keep the area blocked for painting

Liquid frisket has been used for a long time. You can get white and in
few colors.

For water color, you can apply to the area you do not want to paint for now.
Either you may keep the area blocked with white or you may choose to use
different colors later on, on that area. You can use with Acrylics as well.

It is easily removable and when I say that, you can literary peel it off from
the paper.
The brush is supplied for easy application or you might have to use
your own brush and remove it by rinsing off the liquid after your application.
Sometimes you can spatter the liquid and block the area for night sky or lighting.

Using colored inks with water color and acrylics

Using colored inks with water color and acrylics

Colored inks can bring profound effects on your art work.
If you haven’t visited the art supply store lately, this is
a good time to experiment with them. You can buy it in small
bottles and get variety of the colors.

The inks can be used for special effects for your painting with
water color as well as acrylics if you are going to water down
your acrylics.

From dawn to dusk the skies can be easily created with this ink.
I have tried collages and with mono printing techniques. It works
very well and brings the desired results.

Using wax with Water color

Using wax with Water color

One can use melted wax with water color. Although it is hard to remove. However, the area you protect with wax remains there forever. For example, white.

Open strokes of melted wax can be applied with a bristle of your brush and be allowed to dry completely. You can paint over it and it brings the texture to the painting since water color beads on the wax area.

Try it, it may surprise you.

Sponges for your art work

Sponges for your art work

If you have never tried sponges, this is your time to try one.

You can use several different ways.

1. To create an multicolor background either do it on a wet paper or dry canvas.
You can use it for both Water color and Acrylics. Take multiple paints on your
palette and dip in each color and create a pattern on your surface.

2. Those synthetic brushes which comes with texture are quite useful too. You can use
for stamping or use their textured edge to create a design by moving your hand up
and down and twisting and turning constantly.

3. Keep multiple sponges handy while painting. You can use smooth to textured and keep
variety in sizes so that you can use different strokes for different sponges. You can
even out the area with soft sponge.

You can use the above techniques without any knowledge of painting.

Making your own stencils for water color

Making your own stencils for water color

When you use stencils for water color, it is like stamping. You can pretty much
use anything and everything. But the effects are enormous. Either you can buy it
commercially or make your own. The following are few ways you can make them.

1. It can be made from plastic sheet, tag board, thin sheet of metal or paper.
2. You can use the letters and numbers from the stores or make your own and
use with abstract or theme painting.
3. Use a masking fluid to protect areas and paint over it. You can peel off when dry.

Once you create a shape you want, you can stick them to paper or use it loosely and can
use paint over it and remove it later.

Indulging into new ideas every now and then is a great way to experiment and learn from it.

Inspiration from within

Inspiration from within

Never Alone

As a human being we are never alone. We are surrounded by nature and its abundance. Take a long walk and admire it’s beauty and cherish the moments. It awakens our creativity and the hidden art within us.

Remember loneliness may visit us, but it never can possess us.
Never be discouraged when failures come to light
Just use them for stepping stones
And make a stronger fight.

By Loreta Inman

This is beautifully narrated and carries a strong message for us.

Paradise of Art: An Inspirational Journey for us

Paradise of Art: An Inspirational Journey for us

My Paradise of art work was born many years ago and I called it “Artist’s Paradise”. In fact, one of the website is “ArtistsParadise”. Art of any kind is soft and soothing to us. we can really get lost into it. It could be music of our choice, painting, craft work or just about anything else. In order to be fulfilled, and relaxed, one must indulge oneself into some kind of art form on a regular basis.

As a child, I was always interested in art of different forms like designing, dancing, embroidery and much more. When the responsibilities of life overtook my life, I had to plan my time wisely. That is the time, I needed outlet for just 2 hours a week and I found one in Oil painting. Ever since, art took off for me and I slowly managed to become professional artist.

We all need a great deal of inspiration as a constant flow to move forward and art can provide that all the time. Where does that kernel of inspiration springs from? It can hit you while listening to music, looking at art work in the gallery, or perhaps looking at nature’s wonders. It just takes hold of you and let you enjoy the journey. This is in true sense inner fountain of inspiration that we are all seeking and art provides that.
